Do I need to protect my dog and cat against Heartworm?

Heartworm disease has only been found in dogs in Alberta that have visited heartworm areas such as southern USA, Manitoba, Ontario and the Okanagan. If you are visiting these areas during the mosquito season protection against heartworm is highly recommended.
